And the work begins with tearing down trees...

August 24, 2009

They have finally started digging out the old foundation and they tore down quite a few trees. It was so cool that I put the girls in the back of the car with the trunk open and we watched them pluck out trees for 2.5 hours! I wish I would have had 2 boys with me though...the girls were not as impressed as I was for sure.

We have been trying to sell our house since February and it finally sold about a month ago. We have to be out of our house by September 25th and we will move into a rental house that is 1/4 the size of our basement for a few months until our house is finished. We are hoping for a mild winter!

After they plucked some smaller trees out, they worked on a couple that were 70' tall and were probably there since the 1870s when the first Anton family settled there. (To all of the conservationists...they were dead and probably would have fallen on our house and did some major damage.) The roots were amazing! It took a couple of guys with some big and bad chainsaws to cut them down. We look like midgets in the pictures next to them.

There is actually a hole there and the place is cleaned up, but then it rained, so we are on standby. We hope they will back up on Saturday to get rolling again. They ran into rock in a few spots, so we are praying that the rock is not in line with the layout of our house.
